Why I'm Running

I’ve always loved school and learning—it’s unapologetically who I am. After 37 years in the classroom (32 here in Longview), I’ve seen firsthand how creativity and collaboration lift our schools. With new state and federal policies coming our way, our district needs problem-solvers who will dig in, fix what needs fixing, and keep quality education front and center.
I’m running because I believe in public schools, I know what works, and I’m ready to bring everyone to the table—parents, teachers, support staff, administrators, and community members—to champion our students and prepare them for whatever path they choose.

Susan's Priorities
Adapt to Policy Changes
Develop practical strategies that help our district thrive under evolving state and federal mandates.
Support and Empower Educators
Ensure teachers and staff have the resources, professional development, and respect they need to excel.
Foster Family and Community Engagement
Create consistent, two-way communication channels so parents and neighbors feel heard, valued, and involved.
Champion Student Well-Being and Success
Advocate for programs that build both academic skills and a strong sense of community, so every student invests in their learning.
Promote Transparency and Accountability
Keep board decisions open and accessible, so voters understand our goals, challenges, and progress.

About Susan
Susan Donahue is a lifelong educator and communicator with 37 years of teaching experience, including 32 in the Longview School District. She’s taught theater, English, PE, and Career & Technical Education, always guiding students to connect with their community and invest in their own growth. A skilled listener and collaborative leader, Susan knows that strong schools depend on open dialogue among parents, teachers, support staff, and administrators. Now retired from the classroom, she’s ready to bring that experience and those relationships to the school board.
Susan is that one teacher. The one you'll always remember because her kindness, love of learning, and passion for education changed your life for the better. She has touched so many hearts and shaped so many minds that if you ask anyone about her, they're likely to warmly say, “oh, you mean Ms. Donahue!” Regardless of politics, regardless of party, everyone loves Susan for the very same reasons that make her perfect for our school board.
